Arthur Clinton Allen III
edit
Arthur Clinton Allen III (Born February 6, 1944 — December 6, 2020) was an American businessman, Vice Chairman, and Chairman of a New York Stock Exchange Member firm. He served on a total of 18 public company boards, including high-profile ones: LKQ Corp, Blockbuster Entertainment, Swiss Army, and Steinway Musical Instrument Company. Clint Allen was an extraordinary musician; he could play almost any instrument by ear. In the late 1950s, Clint played guitar and piano well enough to land a spot on Ted Mack’s “Original Amateur Hour” TV show with his Trio. Clint Allen was also a family man, marrying Lawson P. Allen in 1971, having three children, Samantha Adams, Lawson Albright, and Walker Allen. Clint also had six grandchildren, Walker Adams, Sage Albright, Barrett Adams, Nate Albright, Campbell Adams, and Faye Lorraine. His grandchildren knew him as "Big Daddy," a name he was very proud to be called. He was 76 when he passed away in Massachusetts General Hospital of heart surgery complications. Mr. Allen was a family, business, and music man who touched and changed hundreds of lives for the better.
Early life and Education
editA. Clinton Allen was born on February 6, 1944, in Brockton, Massachusetts to Lorraine and Arthur Allen. Clint attended Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton where he was an All-American Football player, graduating in 1962. He spent a Post-Graduate year at Exeter Academy before matriculating at Harvard University from which he graduated in 1967. Clint played football at Harvard, and then rowed on the Heavyweight Varsity Men's crew team. He was the stroke of the 1966 undefeated crew that set the upstream course record at the annual Harvard-Yale Regatta.
When Clint was in elementary school, he pumped gas during the 4 am shift and then hitchhiked to school. He always told his children and grandchildren that in Highschool he would drug test the racing dogs at the Raynham Track, earning himself the title of "Piss Catcher." He laughed while calling that job promotion from his prior post at the track.
Life Stories
editNote: thease stories are told from the point of view of Clint's grandson Walker
The Dean's Car
editOne late Sunday afternoon at Harvard when Big Daddy and his friends were bored and in mischievous moods, they decided to pull a joke on the Dean. He and his buddies went to the parking lot, picked up the Deans' Volkswagon, and brought it into the building. Furthermore, they carried the car up three flights of stairs and left it there on the roof of the dorm. The dean came out and audibly said "Oh my god what's that!?, Oh my god!! The school had to get a crane to bring the car down. Everybody knew who did it but there was never a word to Big Daddy.
Fight at Phillips Exeter
editOne day after football practice at Exeter, Big Daddy, and his friends were relaxing up in their dorm when a little freshman came in, all beat up and crying. Big Daddy asked the kid what happened, and the kid said, "these guys at the pub beat me up." Now Big Daddy and his friends weren't gonna stand for the townies' behaviors. They all marched down to the pub. Now I should add that Big Daddy and these other football players were massive, 6+ feet tall, bulky, and strong as all get out. They walked in, signaling to the bartender (who was very keen of the football crew) to lock the door. One of Big Daddy's closest friends went over to the guy standing at the pinball machine and tapped him on the shoulder, the thug turned around, and Big Daddy's friend asked, "Are you the guys who beat up that freshie a few minutes ago." The thug shot back with, "What's it to ya?" The friend socked the pinball player right in the jaw, sending him flying over the machine and on to the floor, out cold. The rest of the townies got up and started to brawl. Big Daddy socked a different one of them right in the tooth, leaving Big Daddy with a lifelong scar, but the other guy unconscious and without a tooth. The fight ended with the football players winning. The next day everyone was called in for a school assembly because word gets around quickly. The Dean of Exeter, this brutal man was known to many as "The Dean of Discipline", walked onto the stage. It was pretty obvious that Big Daddy was in the fight because of the bloody bandages wrapped around his hand. The Dean said, "Now we pride ourselves on our relationship with the Exeter locals... but I don't think they will be causing us trouble any time soon." The whole auditorium stood up cheering with pride on how Big Daddy and the crew stood up for one of their own. Despite the brawl that went on, Big Daddy was not a violent person but a peaceful man with a strong moral compass.

"Sounds like you got the fuzzy end of the lollypop."

"It's been a hell of a ride."
His "Pier Group" (this was the varied group of randoms that were on the Pier in Florida in the morning that he used to fish with.)
"How are ya kid?"
