The Opelika-Auburn News is a daily newspaper serving Lee, Chambers, Macon, Tallapoosa and Russell counties in East Alabama. The newspaper is based in Opelika, the county seat of Lee County, and is owned by Media General, a Virginia-based media company.

Honors
editIn 2011, the Opelika-Auburn News won its fifth consecutive General Excellence award from the Alabama Press Association. The award, widely considered the APA's top honor, was the newspaper's seventh in the past eight years.[2]
The newspaper also won news and sports reporting sweepstakes awards in the 2011 Alabama Associated Press Managing Editors annual newspaper contest.[3]
