Bibliography

edit
  • Singh, Jyotsna G. (2012-09-01). "Boundary Crossings in the Islamic World: Princess Gulbadan as Traveler, Biographer, and Witness to History, 1523–1603". Early Modern Women: An Interdisciplinary Journal. 7: 231–240.
    • This is from a journal published in 2012 from the University of Chicago, so it should be reliable. It covers in depth about how she began to write the biography and more about what happened after she did. This journal is helpful in gaining more information on Gulbadan Banu.
  • Hernton, Calvin (1985) The Sexual Mountain and Black Women Writers, The Black Scholar, 16:4, 2-11, DOI: 10.1080/00064246.1985.11414346
    • This was published in the Journal of Black Studies and Research so it's reliable. The author does a good job introducing his arguments. This article is from the 80's. It will be helpful for adding my new section on Black Women Writers in America.
  • Lamont, Victoria (2014). Big Books Wanted: Women and Western American Literature in the Twenty-First Century. Legacy, 31(2), 311–326. https://doi.org/10.5250/legacy.31.2.0311
    • Written for the University of Waterloo and gives a very good overview of Western Women writers. There is also a lot of background provided (dates, awards, etc) that can be used in my new section.

Outline of proposed changes

edit

16th Century:

edit

This section is only one sentence. The name of the writer doesn't have a separate article or any citation so I would like to add that. Also, just more information in general on the biography she wrote, her family, and herself. The first article I found will help with this.

Black Women Writers:

edit

The article needs more sections about various women writers. By adding this section I am adding more variety to the article and representing a margarinalized group of women writers. I have already found one scholarly source for this because I would like to find more. The section should talk about the history of these women and then name prominent ones.

Western Women Writers:

edit

Instead of just having a huge section of American women writers, I want to break it up a bit more. This is more specific. I have already found a good source for this as well. Same as above, I would like to add specific examples of the western writers. **I put this into the edit box like it said to but I'm not sure where that actually goes so I am putting it on here as well.
