Autoblock collateral damage

A user named JagDragon is requesting to be freed from the autoblock your block of Staffsgtmaxfightmaster imposed on his IP (where unblock has also been requested). I am referring it to you as the original blocker. Daniel Case (talk) 15:54, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Cheers for that. Sorry I wasn't online. The autoblock has now dropped off anyway (the user is editing again and has blanked their talk page) so I'll assume there is nothing more to be done. JagDragon has good contribs, so I'm inclined to believe that Staffsgtmaxfightmaster was some kid in their house as they said. I'd be pretty sure the person behind Staffsgtmaxfightmaster has learnt a real-life lesson, so everybody is now happy. I hope! ➨ ЯEDVERS has nothing to declare except his jeans 07:44, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Why?

A page breaking apart into little pieces right before my very eyes would certainly be a first. I have not been having a good life and i will tend to get angry a lot. I absolutely apologize to anyone if i have been a mean person, though my circumstances make me that way, even though i am not actually a mean person. By the way, i see you are an atheist. Is this because of your socialist views or are you mad at God for something bad that happened? Bad things have happened in my life, though i have not abandoned the one that created me and you. I am just wondering, since i can probably help you if you are disconnected from God. Being disconnected with God is a bad thing because when you don't have God in your life, your life will go down spiral because you are trying to do something on your own without the help of God and his son Jesus Christ, and life will not work without faith in the one who can make it all happen. If you want to talk more about it, leave a message on my talk page. Thanks. Ожиданиесчастья (talk) 02:28, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Er, thanks, but no. You are welcome to your delusions that there is some powerful invisible unknowable entity with the power to watch you at all times but I no more believe that codswallop than I believe in the toothfairy or Santa Claus - also tales made up to fool small children. And I've not "lost my faith", I never had any - the story was always clearly preposterous to anyone with half a mind. Bad things have happened to me, but so have good things, and both have happened because of clearly obvious cause-and-effect, not because of delusions. As for Wikipedia, your wilful misreading of the problems you are causing (you double post and you create pointless headers in the middle of threads and you type your posts in a weird way that makes them hard to read) is disruptive and breaks the operation of the pages you use and creates work for others tidying up behind you. ➨ ЯEDVERS has nothing to declare except his jeans 09:40, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Okay, you've missed some important points about Wikipedia. First conflicts of interest - don't write about yourself, it's not good, it's not encyclopedic but it is tacky. Second, you need to assert notability in the article, not just imply it with poor references. Third, references must be to reliable sources - not Friendster, not Wikipedia, not your own website, for instance. ➨ ЯEDVERS has nothing to declare except his jeans 09:56, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Website Resource

Why are you deleting d20sheets.com from the character sheets resource? It is the same kind of resource as all of the other sites listed on there and is a smaller website to load, I posted in the discussion before reposting and it was removed again please explain why it is a website resource that is very specific to the article, it doesnt violate any of the terms? Thanks for your time! D20sheets (talk) 13:44, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Please read WP:COI and WP:SPAM. Then read WP:EL. Together, they tell you why you can't have a link to your website from this site (and certainly not for the half dozen pages you added it to). ➨ ЯEDVERS has nothing to declare except his jeans 14:14, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

I believe that D20 Sheets does adhere to your WP:EL section of: What should be linked Shortcut: WP:ELYES

  1. Articles about any organization, person, web site, or other entity should link to the official site, if any.
  2. An article about a book, a musical score, or some other media should link to a site hosting a copy of the work if none of the "Links normally to be avoided" criteria apply.
  3. Sites that contain neutral and accurate material that cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article due to copyright issues, amount of detail (such as professional athlete statistics, movie or television credits, interview transcripts, or online textbooks) or other reasons.
  4. Sites with other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article, such as reviews and interviews.

D20 Sheets was added to Character Sheets only I am not sure what you are talking about with half of dozen pages I added another website to 3 other websites. Please allow me to add the site to the one page of character sheets it adheres to all of the rules and regulations, this is just silly that you allow other sites of the same subject on here and not this one which adheres to the rules listed above. If you wish for me not to post it I am sure that one of my sites viewers will post it eventually. D20sheets (talk) 15:10, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

So you've read WP:EL and interpreted it to suit you. Now read WP:COI and WP:SPAM#LINK and come back to me. ➨ ЯEDVERS has nothing to declare except his jeans 07:58, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

I don't think I ever hated it, per se, but, yeah, I still have negative feelings, put it that way. Not helped by the response of a certain active Commons editor who chose to punish me for my ungood crimethink by ensuring every single image I've ever touched was uploaded to Commons and tagged for deletion, then deleted immediately (ironically, breaking the GFDL at the same time). The links are already there (transcluded from somewhere else) and a big pile of interwiki links at the bottom of a high-traffic, noobie-used, section-edited page would be a disaster (it would only be a matter of time before someone clicked "new section" and the interwiki links were no longer at the bottom of the page... and then the bot would archive them). ➨ ЯEDVERS is repressed but remarkably dressed 12:26, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Deletion

Redvers, Why did you delete the page I created, "Every Child Ministries" without discussion? If there was something specific on the page that did not meet your criteria you should have given a chance to clean it up. This is a significant organization. They have freed modern-day slaves, created a children's home, provided education for orphans and much more. I want to try again, placing more emphasis on third-party verification of their significance. Is this possible?Yazole (talk) 02:44, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

User talk:Dzhugashvili

Hello Redvers. This editor has again marked his User talk for speedy deletion. I don't like to see user talk pages deleted, but the policy is kind of vague on this, both m:rtv and WP:VANISH. Two possibilities:

  • Ask him to do an WP:MFD
  • Do the deletion, but let him know that if he resumes editing his entire past User talk is coming right back, no questions.

There does not seem to be anything of major importance in the history of his user talk, just a whiff of some controversies about tagging. Do you have an idea what to do? EdJohnston (talk) 15:46, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi ЯEDVERS. I'm sorry, I am a bit new to Wikipedia and was not sure of some things. I will stop taking the maintenance tags, which I did not know I was supposed to leave, because last time I left the AfD tag, my article was deleted. I have been making edits to my article in hopes of correcting the flags. I have spent much time on it, therefore, I have been trying my best to keep my article up. I did not know that I should not be editing it so often. I do not have a close connection with the topic, though I am currently studying boundary scan and testing, and this article was a project for my EET class at school. AfD

Thanks for the correction. Would I be right then in saying that while the outcome is the same (ie that to get an article AfD'ed an anon IP needs to ask on the talk page), the process is different - an anon IP can legitimately add an AfD header to an article even though they then need assistance to do the remaining stages? Euryalus (talk) 22:01, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Having re-read the italic text you sent me, the answer to my own question is yes. Thanks again, will remember if this comes up again with another IP. Euryalus (talk) 04:35, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Armenian genocide debate

Thanks. --Philip Baird Shearer (talk) 19:06, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Redvers, can you reverse your decision to protect the Denial of the Armenian Genocide / Armenian_genocide_debate article?
You wrote in its talk page that the protection is to allow the various editors to discuss things on the talk page rather than have repeated title changes. However, the person who did the undiscussed title change, Philip Baird Shearer, is refusing to initiate this discussion by refusing to place the required move template and discussion section in the talk page. He has to be the one to do this because he is the editor wanting the page title change.
Given this state of affairs, it will be inevitable that the page will move back to its old title after the protection is lifted (because proper procedures were not followed for the title change move and there was no consensus for such a change). So it would be best to remove the protection now and for the article to be returned to its original "Denial of the Armenian Genocide" title. This will mean that Philip Baird Shearer will either have to accept the earlier status quo, or do what I have repeatedly asked him to do - start in the talk page the proper procedures to propose a title change. Meowy 14:14, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
I deliberately protected The Wrong VersionTM and have no opinion on which is the correct one. ➨ ЯEDVERS will never be anybody's hero now 10:56, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
I understand that, that you can't show bias by saving one version over the other. But I wonder if it should have been protected it at all, given that the page move was against the rules (in that it hadn't been proposed before hand)? It wasn't a content issue, it was an abuse of procedures issue. That aside, in the present circumstances how can the move be discussed if its proposer refuses to start the discussion by initiating the correct procedures? And if it can't be discussed, why have the protection? Meowy 15:34, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

TerrainView-Globe

Hi Redvers Yesterday you have deleted my input about TerrainView-Globe. I am a 3d specialist and I think that the wikipedia topic about virtual Globe software is of great interest in the community. Unfortunately I am a beginner in editing wikipedia articles. I would be happy if you unprotect the TerrainView-Globe site, so I can try to edit again without advertisement. Thank you Interactive3d —Preceding unsigned comment added by Interactive3d (talkcontribs)

My best advice would be that you create the article here: User:Interactive3d/TerrainView-Globe. It can then be assessed to remove advertising terms and to ensure that it includes assertions of notability via multiple third party, reliable, reviewable sources. It can then be moved to the mainspace. ➨ ЯEDVERS will never be anybody's hero now 11:59, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Your deletion of Adamaduma value

Hello, Please undelete the page I have just tried to put on the wiki database! I Saw that my article- "Doesn't indicate importance or significance of a group/band/company/etc.)"

A few points for your consideration:

A. I'm a Wiki newbee, and this is the first time I'm putting something on the database. B. However I am not just messing around, The value I tried to add is an existing band, that I happen to be a part of, and seeing wikipedia does contain information about artists, musicians and bands, thought this band to be no less interesting or relevant than other bands listed on wikipedia. C. The article was still under construction, the information written took me time and effort to collaborate, and I wish I at least had a chance to copy it to my PC. D. is there no way to edit my input and not publish it till it's read and verified by veteran wiki editors? should I have saved it on the "sandbox" feature rather than on the article page?

I am an ethno-musician with a lot of information and knowledge to contribute to the database, that I think would interest others. I wish to understand how it's done, and would appreciate it if you or somebody else can help me do it the way it's done here in wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adamaduma (talkcontribs)

I'd advise that you create the article in your userspace - User:Adamaduma/Adamaduma (band) for instance - and we can review the situtation. You'll need to review WP:BAND to see if your band fits our standards for entry; you'll also need to provide reliable, third party sources for us to review, as information on someone's hard-drive is rarely of use to us. ➨ ЯEDVERS will never be anybody's hero now 11:40, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

two warnings

Hello Redvers, I just noticed that you reinserted two warnings on the D4Science article. The page was reviewed by several native English speakers who said the content was neutral and factual. I had previously removed lots of sentences from the objectives section and inserted references. Please let me know in what way you want us to adjust the page. Thank you so much. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Didier So (talkcontribs)

You need to provide citations for two statements in particular
  1. D4Science aims to continue the path that the GÉANT, EGEE, and DILIGENT projects have initiated... says who?
  2. The main objective of the D4Science project is... says who?
Additionally, the second paragraph needs to be rewritten to relieve it of some of the jargon/sales patter, perhaps by merging it with the similarly jargon-ridden "Objectives" advert paragraph. I'd also advise culling the external links down, as 11 for a stub article is excessive and many are only barely related to the subject at hand. Some could, I dare say, be turned into inline citations; but the majority are there just to advertise the websites in question. ➨ ЯEDVERS a sweet and tender hooligan 09:47, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Thank you Redvers for your advice. The project summary and objectives are part of the Description of Work of the project but this document is not public. I have therefore inserted a citation to another source. I have made other changes (merging) to the article. Any further comments?
