"Adjustment Team" is in the public domain in the United States because it was published in the United States between January 1, 1950 and December 31, 1963 but copyright was not renewed with the US Copyright Office within a year period beginning on December 31 of the 27th year of the copyright and running through December 31 of the following year. When renewal registration was not made within the statutory time limit copyright expired at the end of its first term and protection was lost permanently.[1] Copyright protection for Orbit Science Fiction, Sept.-Oct. 1954 and its contents was created under Registration Number B00000486659.[2][3] After the author's death, "Adjustment Team" was incorrectly included in renewal Registration Number RE0000190631 (1983-11-22) War veteran, and other contributions by Philip K. Dick, as "(In Imaginative tales, Sept. 1955) Adjustment team. Pub. 1955-07-07; B00000542735."[4][5]

Electric Shepherd Productions, Media Rights Capital and Universal Pictures are listed as the movie's Production Companies at the IMDb.[6] Electric Shepherd Productions was founded by Dick's daughters, Isa Dick Hackett (CEO/President) and Laura Leslie (COO/President).[7]Isa Dick Hackett, as Isa Dick, and Laura Leslie, as Laura Coelho, are two of the three Copyright Claimants for Copyright renewal Registration Number RE0000190631 (1983-11-22) War veteran, and other contributions by Philip K. Dick, erroneously listing the original publication of "Adjustment Team" as "(In Imaginative tales, Sept. 1955) Adjustment team. Pub. 1955-07-07; B00000542735."[8][9] For unapparent reasons they are the sole Party 1 claimants listed in Document Number V3577D123 (part of Entire Copyright Document: V3578 D358 P1) assigning rights to Party 2: Philip K. Dick Testamentary Trust.[10][11] Copyright Document Number: V3578D358 (Date of Execution: as of 19Jun09; 17Jun09, part of Entire Copyright Document: V3578 D358 P1-2) is a Short-form assignment from Party 1: Philip K. Dick Testamentary Trust to Party 2: Oaktree Entertainment, Inc.[12][13] V3578D358 appears to be the earliest record listed in searches by title for Adjustment Team and The Adjustment Bureau which relates to the movie adaptation of the short story.[14] The legal and financial implications of the full copyright and chain of title issues are unclear.

-Maybe reference to case of public domain ballet, play or whatever where court ordered entity which unintentionally misrepresented itself as holding copyright to refund money. think there is a link in the Copyfraud article or I have it bookmarked.
