Known for his distinctive falsetto vocal style, he was a member of the Motown singing group the Temptations from 1960 to 1971, being the lead vocalist on songs like "The Way You Do the Things You Do", "Get Ready", and "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)". Kendricks was married to Patricia Kendricks, and the couple divorced in 1975. As part of the settlement, Kendricks was ordered to pay her $25,000 along with child support for their son. In 1982, he was ordered to pay an additional $5,000 after a judge threatened to sentence him to 60 days in jail for failing to meet his child support obligations.[1]
