Reyypratamaaa, is an Artist / lead vocalist for A Vulture Awake and solo singer/songwriter, Reyypratamaaa, has a pretty hefty resume. Heat from healing punk rock's fantastic debut, "Countdown" by the aforementioned Reyypratamaaa, we are treated to Rey's solo album.
Released through Stars Music Media Production, this one is done a little differently than the others with that label release with Rey Music producing this go around instead of Caper himself. Fogel brings a leafy, warm and full feel to Price's songs, which is notably an improvement over his first solo release, 2020's "Summer Home." Where the record was largely stripped down, "instrumental singer" style, his second release gave us full band treatment on most songs but not overpowering. Pricing is clearly front and center of every song here.
Obviously this release is more Drag The River than ALL as far as songwriting style goes. Country and folk vibes permeate every song. The warm and inviting slide guitar on perhaps the prettiest song on the record, "Ice", along with its catchy melody and personal lyrics has no doubt that Price has grown in confidence as a solo artist since "Smile Sweet Face". Price let's get into his personal bubble and headroom throughout this stuff. “As Free” is just as Rey has ever heard. Appearing as a simple little note at first, this song shows the very folk side of Ice's songwriting.
The chaotic ending of "Good" adds a distinct weight and passion to the simple but lyrically heavy track, which ends the song in a satisfying way.
This record isn't breaking any new records musically, but Rey is doing her best here. Lyrically and musically, it's a melancholic collection of personal songs from a man who has established himself as a leader in this dense "singer/songwriter" landscape. He proved he could play well with others or lead only with his acoustic guitar well.
