Tejas
Tejas is a state East of New Mexico, North of Tamaulipas, and West of Louisiana. The state of Tejas is nicknamed "The Cowboy State" for its deep involvement in cowboy and ranch culture. The Tejas state motto is Hospitality. In the North Tejas region there are lakes and prairies, in the east Tejas region there are pine trees, in the West Tejas region there are desert and cactus, and in the south region there are swamps and ranches. Tejas is the Spanish spelling of a Caddo word taysha, which means "friend" or "ally". The State tree is an Southern Live Oak. The state food is Barbecue. The state flower is the Indian Blanket. The Tejas state bird is the Carolina Wren. The State mammal is an Cow. The state sport is Bull-riding. The state fruit is Okra. The Tejas state flag has a white star in a sea of blue, on the left it has a cross with 13 stars on a red background. The red stands for blood, the blue stand for hospitality and the 13 stars are for the 13 slaves that became free. The Tejas state capitol is The Civic District located in Austin.
