Robert Barclay is an Australian author of seven romantic suspense novels.[1][2]
Personal and Early Life
editRobert grew up in a small village in England, the repository of 1500 years of history engraved on the tombstones and chronicles of the Norman Church. Without such niceties as cellphones, TV, and definitely no Internet, Robert made up stories. Aged eleven, he was sent away to a city school to be baffled by Algebra, French and Latin where he developed a love for language and history. Fate intervened when family migrated to Australia. Seduced by the sea voyage he decided to continue travelling and became a clearance diver in the Australian Navy. As the Vietnam War started, he found himself in the labyrinthine, murky waterways of the Mekong Delta dismantling booby traps. He has spent much of his later life in Asia. The inspiration for his novels comes from seeing first-hand the war-ravaged villages of Vietnam and Cambodia and the children affected by war. Robert writes blogs and articles highlighting the plight of these children.
Career
editRobert Barclay is a novel writer and author of his first book "The Diary of Katy Yehonala". The [3] is a story of love embracing three generations of amazing women who faced their demons and stood strong and proud against the challenges those tumultuous times threw against them.
“The Orphanage of Secrets” is his second completed book to be published early in 2022. The second book is a change of genre to murder/mystery but still has its roots in metaphor and is about breaking free from the past.
Robert Barclay is on the way to becoming a favourite Australian author with the release shortly of his second novel The Orphanage of Secrets.
