editMy name is Robert Miller, Queens Library retiree. Am interested in local history, having helped get the Long Island Motor Parkway State and National Historic Place status, as well as helped write "The Boats We Rode", about New York area excursion and ferry boats from the end of WWII until 1974, among other things. Have helped the Archives at Queens Library over the years on many subjects. Was host/narrator on Fred Hadley's four Youtube programs on Long Island History: The Jamaica Avenue elevated line, How the Thirsty City of Brooklyn Got Its Water (aka Brooklyn Water works), The Long Island Motor Parkway, and Robert Moses.
