In 1995 I founded a collaborative encyclopedia called "Canadian Mountain Encyclopedia", (http://Bivouac.com). Since 1995 it has grown to be the authoritative source of mountain information for Canada, and the information has been copied to various other websites. Bivouac is a collaborative effort, maintained by a network of editors in western Canada. It is a forerunner of the collaborative idea of Wikipedia. In Bivouac, any certified member can make contributions of source material in their own names, but the infrastructure such as mountain heights can only be changed by authorized editors. Editors are people who have been around for a few years, and have a history of quality contributions.

We have an interest in standardizing certain mountain statistics such as height and prominence across major reference sources, and as such, I have reviewed certain Wikipedia mountain pages, and made updates to give them the benefit of the most recent survey information available to Bivouac.com.
