Harold A. Levey: Composer, Conductor and Arranger of Music

Mr. Levey studied at the National Conservatory of music of America. At 13, he was a clarinetist of the New York Symphony Society under [Damrosch.]

At 19, he led the Brighton Beach Band in [[1]]. He was a protege of [Herbert], and worked as a conductor of background music for [Brothers] in Brooklyn as a young man.

Mr Levey wrote the music for "Lady Billy," a Broadway musical comedy with Mitzi Hajos, in 1920. In 1922 Peggy Wood sang in "The Clinging Vine," another Broadway musical comedy for which Mr. Levey composed the music. In 1925 he and Owen Murphy were the composers of the music for the "Greenwich Village Follies" on Broadway.

Mr. Levey was also a co-author of the music for "Rainbow Rose" in 1926 and "Lovely Lady" in 1927.

In the nineteen-forties and fifties he was musical director of two radio serial shows and of a television series, "[Circle Theatre]."

ASCAP records show that Mr. Levey composed 2598 songs. His work is featured in the [of Television and Radio] in New York City (The Paley Center for Media).
