FairHome
editFairhome is use by the collective MAMA[1] in 2020. It was firstly presented for the BWMSTR 20/21 Label (Bouwmeesterlabels)[2] by the Flemish Government Architect in Belgium.
Following the social and industrial movements that are pushing towards creating vehicles[3], industrial equipment[4] and electronics easier to repair and maintain through the right to repair [5]. FairHome proposes a similar reflection applied to the build environment. Where materials and methodologies of construction could allow inhabitants / users and professionals to a better repair and maintain assets.
Because of the elderly stage of the build environment in EU where "half of the residential stock was built before 1970"[6], Fairhome proposes do not only focus in new construction but as well in the existing building stock. Fairhome partly does this by developing contractual models between owner and tenant. These models should help to improve the livability and the longevity of the asset.
