I feel so grateful in working to a school where almost everything is available especially those things and facilities needed in teaching and learning process. I’ve been working in this private school for almost 4 years and I can see the effort of the school in providing high quality education and services to its stakeholder.
The school have an ID system were the student will swipe the ID every time they enter and leave the school campus and their parents will receive a notification on the SMS to monitor the attendance and tardiness of their children. CCTV camera are installed in each classroom, offices, and every corner of the campus for monitoring and to secure the safety of everyone inside the school premises. For effective and conducive learning environment, each classroom is fully air-conditioned and has its own television installed with HDMI connector for the PowerPoint presentation and film showing. Speech Laboratory are also use in their language class such as English, Filipino and Chinese. There are separate computer laboratories on each department with fast internet connection and complete set of equipment that learners can use in their researches and assignments. Audio visual room and auditorium are also fully equipped for the learners to use during school activities, events and seminars. In previous years, one campus of the school is having problem with the power interruption due to its location. A batch of alumni donated a complete set of solar panels to address that problem. Because of that, the school has already enough power supply that it was able install air conditions on each classrooms and offices.
As the pandemic arises here in the country, the school decided to shift into full online class. There are a lot of preparation before the launching of this new setting of teaching ang learning. The school invested a lot of money to strengthen and improve the WIFI connectivity around the school campus. Some of our classrooms are being renovated and turned into a session rooms that is conducive for online teaching. In case of power interruptions, electric generators and solar panel are also available. Before we started our school year, all teachers are provided with laptops and noise cancelling headset that we can use in online teaching. Faculty and staffs underwent a lot of trainings and workshops that regards with online teaching and learning. We were taught how to use different learning platforms, online teaching strategies, online etiquette and assessment procedures. The school also form a new department which is the IT department that will assist and help the teachers if ever there will be a technical issues or difficulties that may encounter during the online classes. The department is also in charge in the maintaining and monitoring the connectivity of ever session rooms. They also manage the school’s official website and social media sites such as Facebook page and YouTube channel that all students, parents and alumni can access and be updated with the activities and upcoming events of the school. The school subscribed in a G-suite account so that we can make use of different google services that we can use in our online classes such as Gmail, google drive, google classroom, google meet and hangouts. The OSA, guidance officer as well as the class adviser of the learner do proper communication with the parents through SMS and email to talk about the status and performances of the child their classes.
In our school, I think we don’t have any problems or deficiency when it comes to ICT. If there is, the school can address the problem as soon as possible but it will undergo a lot planning, discussion and deliberation if it can be good and good for everyone. Every end of the school year, we do inventory so that the school will know what to change, add and improve to continue quality school services for the next school year. Only proper maintenance and utilization should be done so that more learners can benefit to it. The school were able to maintain the high-quality education and services because of the full support, morally and financially by its stakeholders and alumni to provide all the needs of its learners in their learning process effectively. There is no doubt that the school is well-known to its achievements in terms of academics, extracurricular activities and even sports not only locally but also internationally.
