Roger Mittag was born on October 20, 1958 in Toronto. Growing up in Etobicoke, he attended West Humber Public School, Heatherbrae Middle School and West Humber Collegiate (1972-1977). He has been married to his wife Ann since 1982 and has two sons, Daniel and Brian.
Roger worked at Labatt Breweries from 1997 until 2005. In November, 2005 he created Thirst For Knowledge Inc, a beer education company that specialized in beer tastings, beer dinners and consulting to the beer industry. In 2009, he then created Prud'homme Beer Certification, Canada's Beer Education program. Prud'homme Beer Certification has 4 distinct level of programming starting with Level 1 - the Beer Enthusiast and culminating with Level 4 - Master Beer Sommelier.
In 2011, he launched Prud’homme Beer Certification® as the first comprehensive online beer education program in the world.
As one of the leading beer experts in Canada, he has delivered quality beer education since 1997 and is a consultant/educator to many breweries and restaurant groups bringing his extensive beer industry knowledge and enthusiastic approach to their businesses. Roger is also a published author who contributes to magazines and books and has appeared on radio and television sharing his love of beer.
