Hi, my name is Roger Hiorns. I'm an Englishman who works in France. I am a Directeur de Recherche (Senior Researcher) with the Centre Nationale de Recherche Scientifique (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centre_national_de_la_recherche_scientifique). I am based in Pau at a research centre called the IPREM. I work on the synthesis of polymers for solar panels.
I am also a member of IUPAC's Subcommittee on Polymer Terminology or SPT for short (see https://iupac.org/who-we-are/committees/committee-details/?body_code=401). SPT develops terminology and nomenclature for polymers. The recommendations and rules that SPT develops are used by the members of universities, schools, Governments and NGOs all around the world. Our aim is to enhance clarity in scientific communication for the good for all. I'm very proud to say that I am its current Chair as they are an amazing team!
I am also a member of a team that is working on a project to help wiki by adding IUPAC definitions to pages. IUPAC encourages the distribution of its work through a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License, always with attribution to IUPAC.
We don't want to IUPAC'ise Wiki, but rather, try and help give handy, useful definitions that will help support the excellent work done in wiki.
On Wikipedia I worked on the page on IUPAC polymer nomenclature.
