The Cincinnati Civil War Roundtable is a 501(c)3 nonprofit historical society established in May, 1956 and is made up of men and women dedicated to the study and understanding of the American Civil War. The CCWRT also focuses on education and preservation activities. The Cincinnati Civil War Roundtable is the oldest in Ohio, and among the oldest in the nation. One notable member is Lois Lambert, author of Heroes of the Western Theater: 33rd OVI and 91st OVI With the Civil War Letters of Lt Col Benjamin Franklin Coates.[1]
Past preservation activities include monetary donations to the Glendale Trust for preservation of the Glendale Battlefield and the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond, VA.
The Cincinnati Civil War Roundtable meets regularly on the third Thursday of the month, from September - November and January - May. Meetings are held at the Drake Center and include dinner and conversation, followed by a brief regular business meeting and then the featured speaker or presentation. Total cost for dinner and attending the presentation is $28.
In addition to regular meetings, its members take an annual spring trip to battlefields or Civil War - related sites. Past destinations include Chickamauga, Munfordville, Stones River, and Nashville. [2]
Meetings are open to both members and guests.
