Anami Mona, sometimes called the "accidental killer", was a Palestinian freelance who allegedly lured a teenaged Israeli boy to his death using an internet chatroom in January 2001. Mona was arrested on January 20, 2001, two days after the body of the 16-year-old Ofir Rahum was discovered in the West Bank area. Mona’s lawyer said that she did not intend to harm the teenager, and that she only wanted to kidnap him to draw worldwide attention to the plight of the Palestinians. Allegedly, Mona chatted with Rahum over the internet and asked him to meet her at the Jerusalem bus station. She drove him towards Ramallah in West Bank, intending to kidnap him, but it went horribly wrong there. Her accomplices, who were lying in wait roadside, asked Rahum to get out of the car with his hands up. Rahum refused to obey them and they opened fire on him with their Kalashnikov rifles. They were reported to be members of the then Palestinian President Yasser Arafat’s Fatah.
