Mihnea Rareș Hanțiu

Mihnea Rareș Hanțiu is a Romanian filmmaker, producer and muralist based in Arad and Bucharest, Romania. In 2012 he has co-founded alongside Oana Tarce, Citizenit, a cultural NGO which focuses on the cultural and urban flourishing of his native Arad.[1]

Early life and education

Rareș was born on 18th of June 1988 in Arad, Romania. After finishing highschool at Colegiul Național Elena Ghiba-Birta he enrolled at UNATC Bucharest for studying film directing. He graduated in 2012 and has been since working in the film industry and independent art projects.

Career

Since 2015, Citizenit organises "Particles Festival", a festival which brings a fusion of music, independent art and workshops together in nature.[2]

Rareș directed in 2016 the short documentary "White is the new white" which depicts the journey of artists in an industrial space with potential for independent art projects. Rareș has also directed a few fiction short-films, including No BODY. Rareș is part of the artistic group kinema-ikon, a Central European independent artistic group enabling accesibility to experimental films for everyone.[3]

From 2018 to 2021 Mihnea was working as a second unit director for Amazon Prime TV series such as Hackerville, We Are The Wave and Hanna.[4]
