Lewisville's property tax rate in 1936 was 1.1%[1] It's property tax rate was 1.5% in 1965.[2] It's property tax rate was 1.0% in 1967.[3] It's property tax rate was 1.4% in 1969 and 1.0% in 1970.[4] Lewisville also served as the inspiration for Country Music artist Michael Martin Murphey, whose passion for music started during his trips to Sky Ranch.[5] It is also the home town of Gordon Thomas Wyburn, who served as president of the American Mathematical Society from 1953-1954 and was born in Lewisville on January 7, 1904.[6]
