This is exactly how the first three questions will appear on an RfA. Please reply so I can get an idea of how you rate yourself. King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 00:36, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
Questions for the candidate
editDear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. Please answer these questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
- A: I plan to take part in AIV, AFD, Speedy deletions, and requests for unblock. I also have a fairly good understanding of templates and will work on edit requests for template changes. Ryan Vesey Review me! 03:18, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: I have created two DYK's HMS Doterel (1880) and HMS Phoenix (N96). I also contributed heavily to the article Thomas Bridges (Anglican missionary). I enjoy working with new editors and worked extensively with User:Since 10.28.2010 before he was blocked and I contribute heavily to the Help desk. I have tagged many articles for speedy deletion and have a good record. I have recently created WikiProject University of Pennsylvania in order to organize and improve articles related to the University. Ryan Vesey Review me! 03:18, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: I was involved in one conflict which I viewed as a personal attack where I believe my actions were less than desirable. I was blocked for abusing my editing privileges. The behavior which led to my block was an out of character, isolated incident and I have improved my behavior as an editor since then. I have been involved in a few minor disputes since then, but I have taken the issue to the talk page and sought the advice of other experienced editors. I hope to continue in the pattern of dispute resolution, including usage of the bold, revert, discuss cycle, in my future edits. Ryan Vesey Review me! 03:18, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
Commentary
editA fairly good list of planned work areas for #1. It's good that you're doing AIV reports, participating in AfDs, flagging CSDs, etc.; RfA !voters like to see candidates who are already experienced with admin areas. An important thing is to be very careful not to tag CSDs incorrectly; plenty of RfA candidates with an error rate of even 5% on CSD have been shot down on that regard. I'll go through your CSD taggings in the next couple of days and check if they're accurate. As for the conflict you mentioned, it is a rather serious one which will definitely affect the time at which it is feasible for you to run. Continue to behave with extra civility and prudence, and maybe people will forget about it in a year's time. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 00:04, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
