Ferhat Encü

Ferhat Encü is a former Kurdish member of the Turkish Parliament in the Sirnak Province of Turkey. Encü is well known for a speech that he gave on the floor of the Parliament in Ankara. In his speech, Encü criticized the Turkish Government for their violence and mistreatment of the Kurdish people. After delivering the speech, Encu was arrested and stripped of his parliamentary immunity and he remains in prison today in Kandira F-type prison in Turkey. [1][2]

Encü was born on August 5, 1985 in the Roboski district of the Sirnak Province of Turkey. He attended and graduated from high school in Turkey and speaks Kurdish at a very high level. [3] After the Roboski Massacre that occurred on December 28, 2011, Encü began pursuing a political career in Turkey and eventually, on June 7, 2015, he was elected to MP from the HDP. [3][4]
