Equation Writing

I believe I've discovered something very useful. Say you want to make a nice looking math equation. Well wiki has a built in function to do this (duh). But what if you want use the equation somewhere else?? Then just make your equation in wiki and then save the image either by publishing it privately (say in your user page) or by previewing it on a standard page!!

Ok here I go. I need a stats equation which involves a sum. So I'll start with this equation I found, (I don't know the exact syntax yet).

$\sum _{i=m}^{n}x_{i}=x_{m}+x_{m+1}+x_{m+2}+\cdots +x_{n-1}+x_{n}.$

This code is simply "\sum_{i=m}^n x_i = x_m + x_{m+1} + x_{m+2} +\cdots+ x_{n-1} + x_n." Now for my desired function:

$P=\sum _{i=0}^{n-m}{\frac {n!}{i!-(n-i)!}}(1-\phi )^{i}\phi ^{n-i}$

this code is simply "P = \sum_{i=0}^{n-m} \frac {n!}{i!- (n-i)!} (1 - \phi)^i \phi^{n - i}"

I made a discovery! Some equations are simple enough to be output by wiki in an html formatting. This produces a small equation such as:

$P=\phi ^{2}+\phi ^{2}+\phi ^{2}-2\phi ^{3}$

If you want the large format you must force it to render the .png by adding "\," at the end of the equation. This yields:

$P=\phi ^{2}+\phi ^{2}+\phi ^{2}-2\phi ^{3}\,$

Using my favorite variable $\phi \,$ as the probability of a single module failure $P=\phi ^{2}+\phi ^{2}+\phi ^{2}-2\phi ^{3}\,$

$P=3\phi ^{2}-2\phi ^{3}\,$

$\phi =0.01\,$

$P=R^{2}+R^{2}+R^{2}-2R^{3}\,$

$P=3R^{2}-2R^{3}\,$

$P=3(0.99)^{2}-2(0.99)^{3}=0.999702\,$

$P=3(0.01)^{2}-2(0.01)^{3}=0.000298\,$

$R_{tmr}=R_{v}(3R_{m}^{2}-2R_{m}^{3})\,$
