Notes:
  1. ^ Reserve teams are not eligible for promotion or participation in the DFB-Pokal.
  2. ^ On 7 June 2011 (after the conclusion of the season), TuS Koblenz voluntarily withdrew their license after being unable to generate an adequate budget for the season.
  3. ^ Wacker Burghausen were spared relegation after Rot Weiss Ahlen were forcibly relegated (later another spot was also freed after TuS Koblenz voluntarily withdrew their license).
  4. ^ Werder Bremen II were spared relegation after Rot Weiss Ahlen first were forcibly relegated and TuS Koblenz later voluntarily withdrew their license.
  5. ^ Rot Weiss Ahlen filed for administration after the conclusion of the season and were relegated on 24 May 2011, having initially retained their spot in the league after finishing in 17th place. They were moved to the bottom of the table in 20th place according to the DFB game regulations. However, the club's matches were not annulled, as the insolvency proceedings were opened after the last matchday, but before the end of the season (30 June). Subsequently, the club renounced their spot in the Regionalliga West, and thus entered the NRW-Liga of the fifth-division Oberliga in the following season.
  6. ^ Rot Weiss Ahlen were deducted three points for violations under the licensing procedure.
