Underlining for tooltips and other metadata purposes in Wikipedia is more widely supported than most seem to think. I'm going to start logging everything I find that is doing it.

editThis is a rather well-standardized style used on innumerable blogs and other websites, for a wide variety of metadata, including both mouseover pop-up tooltips, and tag links, and in-page links as distinct from links to "content proper" external to the page.
