Keenan Recycling
Keenan Recycling is a recycling and organic waste management company headquartered in Aberdeen. It provides commercial food waste collection services to businesses in Scotland and composting services to the Scottish agricultural sector.
History
It began as Keenan's in 1993 selling bark, later becoming Keenan Recycling in 2003 incorporating food and garden waste into its operations. As the Waste (Scotland) Regulations have come into the force the company has grown to become one of the country's main food waste collection company's[1].
Operations
The company processes over 60,000 tonnes of organic waste annually:
- Food waste collection - collections are across mainland Scotland
- Composting - the company operates the second largest Vertical Composting Unit [LINK] in the world
50% of food waste is processed via anaerobic digestion.
