The Aklavik Ice Road is a 112km seasonal[1] ice road across the Mackenzie Delta that links the community of Aklavik on the Peel River with the regional centre of Inuvik, which is connected to Southern Canada by the Dempster Highway. The road is typically open from late December to late April and is the primary road to Aklavik, which is otherwise only accessible by boat or air.[2]
