Daniel Johnson (born 1987),[1] better known as Kane Beatz, is an American record producer from Orlando, Florida.

Originally born in Miami, Johnson's family moved to Orlando when he was two years old.[2] He was originally exposed to music by spending time in the church run by his father.[3] While originally trying to find fame as a rapper, he soon realized that he was more skilled as a producer and decided to switch focus from rapping to producing.[4]. His producing name is derived from his earlier name as a rapper, Hurricane. When he made the switch to producing he shortened Hurricane to Kane and added Beatz to reflect his newer passion.[5]

Johnson first found monetary success from producing while still in high school by selling his beats over the internet. He was soon contacted by Mike Caren, Executive Vice President of A&R for Atlantic Records, who signed him to a publishing contract with the label.[6]

He has stated that his favorite producers and largest musical influences are Timbaland, Dr. Dre, and Mannie Fresh.[7]

In February of 2011, Johnson, along with fellow Atlantic Records labelmate Trey Songz as well as Atlantic Records itself, had an $18 million lawsuit filed against them by hip-hop producer Milton James claiming that the hit song Bottoms Up had originally been written and copyrighted by James alone.[8]
