Notable History in the Portable Sanitation Industry
editDon's Johns has serviced multiple United States Presidential Inauguration ceremonies with the most recent being the Inauguration of Barack Obama. During the weeks of January 11 and January 18, 2009, Don's Johns was contracted as the primary service provider of President Obama's inauguration. The president himself was supplied with a newly constructed Presidential Luxury Restroom Trailer.
5,500 portable toilets were also supplied for President Obama's inauguration in Washington, D.C. for the 2.2 million people estimated in attendance. Along the inaugural parade route and the Capitol, United Site Services together with other portable restroom rental companies provided an additional 2,300 portable toilets as a combination of standard portable toilets and wheelchair-accessible portable toilets.
During the inauguration of President Obama, the estimated 7,800 portable toilets provided between Don's Johns and USS alone was the largest grouping of portable toilets for an event in the history of the United States, according to the Wichita Eagle (article behind paywall).
Another notable moment in the Portable Toilet company history came in 2011 when Don's Johns was named among America's best restrooms by Cintas Corporation[2].
