COMPREHENSIVE ARTICLE ASSESSMENTS:
Feminism in Latin America
The Feminism in Latin America article is an article part of WikiProject Feminism and WikiProject Latin America. The primary purpose of this article is to inform the audience about the different aspects of Latin American feminism, particularly its history and evolution. As a result, audience is likely to include people interested in political activism/feminism, students and/or Latinx people who want to learn more about the subject, and the general public. While the article has a lot of information about different parts of the subject, Wikipedia has the article flagged for sounding too much like a personal reflection/essay and for having an inadequate lead. Parts of the text also doesn’t lend itself well to reading because of the way the information is broken up and the layout (for example, some lists are written in paragraph form instead of lain out in a bulleted list). The primary goal I have as I edit the article is make changes to the lead of the article and maybe change the tone of the information so that it is more neutral and within the Wikipedia guidelines. I have to keep in mind however that I am not an expert in the subject, so I will try and see if I can model my changes on other feminism articles that are ranked higher than this one as well as try to interact as much as possible with the community before making any substantial edits. With any luck, I’ll be able to interact with editors who know more about the subject than I do and would be able to provide suggestions or external links that would be useful as I plan and implement my changes.

Fire Sea
The Fire Sea article is an article about the fantasy novel Fire Sea written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman as the third novel in their Death Gate Cycle series. The primary purpose of this article is to provide information on this novel to readers. As such, the audience of this article is most likely to consist of people looking to read the novel for the first time and/or fans of the book or authors. While there is a lot of information under the plot summary section, the tone of writing as well as the extreme level of detail does not lend well to an encyclopedic article. While there are three sections (the lead, the plot, and the reception), only the plot section is disproportionally large compared to the others, which are only 2-3 sentences. Perhaps this part of the reason why the article is still classified as a stub article. The primary goal I have as I edit the article is to transform the tone of the plots summary section and perhaps break up the information within by adding relevant sections. If possible, looking for more reliable information on the background of the novel or the authors would help provide readers with a more variety of information. One of the bigger challenges I’ll have as I do this is that I have not read the book myself, nor am I familiar with the authors and their works. I’ll need to be careful about any changes to content and hopefully I’ll be able to consult with editors who are familiar with the book about any questions I may have.
