Why I'm here

edit

I had been aware of wikipedia for most of its first ten years, but not being a web-surfer, I had virtually no familiarity with the various articles. However, as a school teacher, I spend some of my summers dabbling in genealogy which I've been doing for forty plus years. In the summer of 2010 I stumbled upon the wikipedia article about my ancestor, William Arnold (settler), and saw that it was all wrong. It did cite sources--sources that had been disproven a century ago. I was compelled to rewrite the article, and made my first edit on 16 Aug 2010. Since that time I've written, expanded, edited, and approved a growing number of articles, and enjoy just browsing through the good and featured articles on many topics.

I've lived and worked in Maryland since 1995, but my parents hailed from New England, and this is where most of my ancestors lived after sailing from Europe in the early 1600s.Sarnold17 (talk) 12:27, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
