Copiun, which offers an enterprise-class software solution for distributed PC and laptop data management, backup, storage and search, was named a finalist for MIT’s Sloan CIO Symposium Innovation Showcase in April, 2010.[1][2] On September 1, 2010, Copiun announced that it had secured 1.9 million in series A funding led by Hub Angels and RRE Ventures. Other investors who also participated include the company’s existing investors, Launchpad Venture Group, Beacon Angels, and Launch Capital.[3][4] The Copiun data backup and management solution uses an appliance known as the Copiun Data Manager that leverages patent-pending object-based deduplication to minimize bandwidth and storage utilization. The corresponding user agent activates when it senses the user is idle and offers no interface yet enables full-text search and recovery using the native Microsoft Windows search utility. The solution can be deployed on-premises, via Copiun cloud partner, or a hybrid of the two.
