ScoutOwl is the internet pseudonym for Alan William Eggen. Born June 3, 1958, A.W. Eggen is an Eagle Scout and a retiree from Ford Motor Company after 28-1/2 years of employment there. Mr. Eggen is father of Joshua Albert Eggen, divorced from Sharon Kay Eggen. The Eggen Family repatriated to the United States in July, 2005 after a four-year residence in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Alan's current home is located in Dearborn, Michigan.
Alan held a position as Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 1111, chartered to Cherry Hill United Presbyterian Church, Dearborn, MI, in the Great Lakes Field Service Council, BSA. He advised a crew of six Scouts at Philmont Scout Ranch in 2008 (Expedition 721-I). In 2009, Alan helped lead a 5-day trek through Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore from Grand Marais to Munising, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula along the Southern shore of Lake Superior. He also led two 3-4 day treks to Big Manaitiou Island with the troop in norther Lake Michigan. He has completed Woodbadge Scouter advanced leader training twice (NC-143, C-35-10). His primary troop function was to support older Scout activities, including Order of the Arrow and High Adventure.
He was a Service Zone Manager, Dealers Operations Manager, Brand Protection Specialist, Customer Loyalty Data Analytics Specialist and Class Action Settlement Specialist for Ford Customer Service Division. He completed 6-sigma Black Belt certification in January, 2009.
