The Mayan Priest is
An action adventure novel written by Australian author Sue Guillou. Published by Sid Harta Publishers in 2010, this novel uses the ancient Mayan culture as an inspiration.
Plot Summary
Archaeologist Gillian Bright is summoned to the long deserted Mayan city of Tikal by her esteemed friend, Professor Richard Deinhart, to investigate the discovery of a structure that is out of keeping with its surroundings. Unfortunately this building proves to be their downfall and when Gillian’s friends become ensnared she is left to uncover the riddle that is the key to their freedom. With the trap supported by a fifteen hundred year old rope, Gillian Bright knows their time is limited.
With the assistance of Adam Housner, an Australian school teacher, Gillian discovers that the snare is merely one component of a series of elaborate puzzles. Devised by a Mayan priest called Kinix to protect an ancient secret, Gillian and Adam must travel to various Mayan sites in an attempt to decipher his mysteries. What follows is a journey of terror, adventure and thrilling exploits as they try to outwit and outrun Arun Keane, the leader of a mysterious sect who is fuelled by a desperate desire for the expected treasure.
Arun Keane and his web of illicit connections desperately wants whatever Kinix is hiding and uses his extensive network of assassins and numerous funds to try to ensure he gets what he wants.
