I am a highly-educated woman living in the Washington DC area. My daughter has Chronic Lyme Disease, and has been sick for seven and half years. The situation around Lyme is complicated and controversial, and unfortunately the byproduct of that unhappy state of affairs is many sick patients not getting better, like my daughter.
I am not affiliated directly with any one Lyme group, but I am trying to work with a variety of people from across the United States to improve the Wikipedia coverage of Lyme in general. I am an instructional systems designer by profession, which means I spend my days helping experts figure out the best way to communicate important information to their learners. In my effort here at Wikipedia, I will have the privilege of working with a variety of experts capable of contributing a great deal to the Wikipedia coverage of Lyme. Some of them may edit the Wikipedia pages directly themselves, and others may ask me to make the edits. In all cases we expect to be respectful of those who have already put in a considerable amount of time writing and updating the current Wikipedia pages on Lyme and related topics, with the goal of improving the content by adding verifiable information.
I am new to Wikipedia, so if I make mistakes it is probably due to being new and still learning the rules and conventions of the site, rather than any intent to ignore them. If you are reading this page to figure out who I am and what I am doing, please keep this in mind. Please tell me what my mistakes are and help me learn to improve the Wikipedia Lyme pages without incurring anyone's wrath or violating any of Wikipedia's editing policies. Thank you in advance for your consideration and understanding.
