Searchmont Station resides in the community of Searchmont, Ontario, Canada - Located 45 min North of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; Just over an hour North of the Michigan Border. Searchmont is a town of seasonal activities, hunting, boating, fishing, and of course skiing at the Searchmont Resort. To understand how the station partially got its name is in part due to a gentleman by the name of T.C Search, it was then the town of Searchmont came about. During the Clergue era plans came about for a station in Searchmont. Being that there was two stations - just a short distance apart, it was decided to remove the Goulais station, and Searchmont Station would be built where the present station sits today. The year is 1902, and building begain on what would be soon the town iconic land mark in the center of town ...
