Christine Tsai is a businesswoman most know for being one of the founding partners and CEO of 500 Global, an early-stage venture fund and seed accelerator founded in 2010. Tsia is also on the advisory boards of many investment organisations such as Global Private Capital Association, Berkeley Frontier Fund and AAAIM.[1]
Early life
editTsia was born Guam (February 4, 1980), and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area at the age of four. Tsia went on to graduate from the University of California Berkeley with a B.A. in Cognitive Science.[2] Tsia followed this by serving as a research apprentice within the Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program at the Department of Psychology.[3]
In addition to her Academic endeavours, Christine was a dancer and choreographer for the the university's first modern Asian American theatre group Theatre Rice, whose aim was to make and increase opportunity for Asian American students to take part in a multitude of theatrical arts roles such as directing, writing, acting and dancing.[3]
Career
editIn 2001, Tsai started her career via a Summer internship while studying at American multinational energy corporation at the Chevron Corporation. Tsai held a IT position in which she was responsible for building web-based dashboard models.[4]
In 2010, Tsai and her partner Dave McClure began 500 Startups and early-stage venture fund and seed accelerator that specialised in investing in early in founders building fast-growing technology companies.[5][3]
