In The Snow
In Point Felix, Florida, a resort town where snow has never been seen, a blizzard mysteriously occurs on a Friday evening, leaving the town in utter confusion. As the weather worsens, thirteen people are killed, nine slip into a coma, and thirty-three are injured. To make the situation worse, seventeen-year-old Ariadne Luna is stuck high in the mountains with her friends due to the severe weather. Ariadne's father, Holden, is unable to contact her since her cellphone has lost connection. As the group tries to find civilization, one of the boys, Cale, falls down an ice-covered slope and breaks his finger and, due to a thick mist in the air, they all separate. However, a vicious yeti-like creature surprises them, then kills Sidney and Clair, two of Ariadne's friends. Ariadne, Cale, and Bryan, another boy, rush to a nearby log cabin with the creature in pursuit.
Meanwhile, the blizzard continues to get worse, the snow now rising twelve feet off the ground, keeping everyone stuck in their homes. The town's lake for tourists has completely frozen and the roads are filled with slippery ice. Fearing the entire town will die out, Holden's wife, Naomi, confesses that she cheated on Holden with a surgeon at a Christmas party one year. Holden forgives her and the two comfort each other and their younger daughter, Bree, while hoping Ariadne is safe. After a few days of being stuck in the house, Bree develops cabin fever and has an asthma attack, but Naomi manages to calm her down.
