K.S.D.Shanbhag Vidyalaya

K.S.D.Shanbhag Vidyalaya is a school located in Satara. It was established in the memory of Late Shri. Shamrao Dasappa Shanbhag by his son Mr.Ramesh Shanbhag in the year 1991. The average strength of each class is around 40 (1st to 10th - two divisions each).

THINGS COVERED IN THE SCHOOL

ACADEMICS

Covers the syllabus approved by the Maharashtra State Board. Classes are available till 10th std. Special facilities for playgroup and nursery students viz. a small garden with slides and swings are given. The conversation between the teachers and the students is generally informal, since it is widely believed that learning cannot happen when fear dwells in a students mind. It is five years since the school has given 100% result in SSC exam.

SPORTS

This is the school where sports are emphasized more than academics. Students are allowed to chose any one of the following sport:

Basketball
Football
Volleyball
Hockey
Taekwondo
Judo

Good trainers are hired as sports teachers.

The school owns two basketball courts and a boxing ring.

CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Competitions such as handwriting competition, quiz competition, elocotion cometition, etc. take place during the Ganesh festival. The school has a spacious stage where the curricular activities take place. Training for classical music and classical dance (Bharatanatyam) is also available.
