Silvana van Dijk born 13/05/1962 Rotterdam, Netherlands, Drummer-Percussionist-Singer - Photographer - Artist Silvana van Dijk was born in Rotterdam in the Netherlands to Father Johannes Antonius van Dijk ( 06-08-1933-01-06-2017) and Mother Maria Geertruida Groos van Dijk ( 27-03-1936-23-01-2001) she has two brothers and two sisters , Sonja van Dijk, Johnny van Dijk, Jan ( Johannes) van Dijk and Mona van Dijk . From an early age, Silvana expressed an interest in dance, music and photography. She attended ballet classes from a very early age and was eager to explore all forms of dance from jazz to contemporary ballet, African dance and developed a passion for flamenco. Coming from a musical family, she started to take singing lessons and learned to play congas. She started a very successful modelling career at the age of 18 and worked with some of the best photographers in the world. Her modelling career brought her the opportunity to travel and absorb different Cultures. She attended classes in Tokyo, Harlem, and Milan and through her travels; she had the opportunity to visit the Australian outback and Northern territory, where she spent three months travelling through Arnhem Land, exploring Aboriginal Culture. A resident in Australia, since 1986, Silvana started to get involved with Visions of a Nomad, a unique musical outfit, blending worldly sounds with jazz and other genres of music. In 1994, Silvana , together with partner Michael Cuming, started Culturebank productions in Brisbane. Culturebank hosted a multitude on productions and had its base in an old refurbished warehouse in the hart of Brisbane’s West End. Culturebank acted also as a low cost alternative venue for local artist and developed a working relation ship with the local Indigenous Community’s and multi Cultural artists residing in the Brisbane area. Through years of hard work, Culturebank productions managed to establish an International profile by producing International standard shows. . Silvana was approached by the Olympic Committee in 2003 to produce a show to be performed at the sacred music and dance festival in Greece as a forerunner to the Olympic’s.
