THE BRIEF HISTORY OF THE LOZI .. the people of bulozi when they settled in the barotes plain where known as the Luyana or aluyi. Meaning people of water. But later the name changed from luyana to LOZI this is because the luyana were under captivity ( conquered ) by the kololo from south Africa which were lead by sebetwani. .. Therefore the luyana were under kololo for 30 years. Due to this long period of time the luyana lost there language of siluyana kololo language dominated the kingdom .. But due to the good leadership of sebitwani kololo and luyana language was combined to form Silozi which is commonly used in Barotseland .
