Nakayama Shinnosuke (中山眞之亮)

edit

First Shinbashira. On Keio 2, 5th month, 7th day (June 19th, 1866), as the third son of Kajimoto Sōjirō and Oyasama's third daughter Oharu, [Nakayama Shinnosuke] was born in Ichinomoto Village, Soekami County, Yamato Province (present-day Ichinomoto District, Tenri City).

While Oharu was pregnant, Oyasama said, "I put the soul of Father Maegawa into Oharu. He will be Shinnosuke the Shinbashira." After Shinnosuke was born, he would be constantly drawn to the Residence and would in the future lead firmly as the "central pillar of the path."

Further, as Oyasama was naming Shinnosuke during the first year of Meiji in Nara Prefecture, a proclamation was made to abolish "亮" and "衞門" in names, so his name was changed to Shinjirō. Though in public documents Shinjirō was used, he himself passed as Shinnosuke.
