Dear Twitter user who wrote about the 1958 anti-Tamil pogrom:

If you're going to rip off my writing from Wikipedia, at least have the decency to link to the Wikipedia article you used. But I suppose an article which relegates violence against the Sinhalese to "In retaliation, Tamils from the north and east engaged in similar activities of loot, arson and pillage, but little to no cases of death were reported in these areas" suits your fancy better.

Yours truly,

To the Twitch streamer who kindly shared a screenshot on X/Twitter of the Eravur massacre article that (mostly) I wrote:

  1. Please show the section of the article that deals with the actual violence of the massacre, not just the background.
  2. Do not appropriate this massacre for your own political ends. Tamil racism/nationalism and its bigotry against Muslims were responsible for this atrocity, not Sinhala Buddhist nationalism. There was very much a struggle against Tamil nationalism by both Sinhalese and Muslims. Any reconciliation between Tamils and Muslims must acknowledge that Tamil nationalism has persecuted Muslims, even more so than Sinhala Buddhist nationalism has.

Sincerely,
