This is a part of the project to remove the inappropriate links to YouTube which was initiated by User:J.smith and User:Dmcdevit. Although, not all the links to YouTube can be said to be inappropriate for the articles, a majority of them are. When I use the term, a majority, it implies 99% of them. According to the guideline Wikipedia:External links, Wikipedia should not link to those sites which provide fail to provide licensing information; and those sites which are unverifiable as per the guideline Wikipedia:Reliable sources. YouTube, unfortunately falls within the ambit of both. The reasoning for their removal is that there is no reliable way of ascertaining whether the media is free or not, and without licensing information we must assume that any link to YouTube would constitute facilitating copyright violations.
