Stephen Slane is a veteran, author and software engineer living in St. Louis, MO, known as "Bravo Charles"
In September of 2019, he published "Behind the Gun: Poncho's Last Walk" which details for the first time what was happening in Somalia before "Black Hawk Down", including the first known firefights between Al Qaeda/Al-Shabaab and American Forces of the US Army's 87th Infantry Regiment of the 10th Mountain Division. The book is a memoir written from the Soldier's view and includes a previously unknown "Black Hawk Down" incident as well as a firsthand account of the rescue of Task Force Ranger.
