Musical Background
editI graduated with a degree in music from Haverford College, where I studied cello with Michal Schmidt. I have performed solo recitals for PBS Philadelphia, Rutgers-Camden Noontime Recital Series, and as a guest performer for the Network for New Music at the Philadelphia Art Alliance. I have collaborated with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Richard Wernick. In addition to being a guest soloist with the Salem Philharmonic, I have performed as part of the Cape Ann Symphony Orchestra, Symphony by the Sea, MIT Concert Choir Orchestra and the Dirk Hillyer Festival Orchestra. I have performed in masterclasses with Matt Haimovitz, David Finckel (of the Emerson String Quartet), and the Colorado, Modigliani, and Momenta String Quartets. I currently live in Salem and am completing my master’s degree at the Longy School of Music of Bard College, where I study with Terry King.
I am also very interested in using Wikipedia tags to name-drop even more effectively than ever before!
Musical Interests
editThis hardly covers everything, but here are a few areas of interest that are relevant to my own choice of repertoire (thus the lack of vocal music - interesting, but I don't play it myself).
- String music
- Chamber music
- Period baroque performance
- New music
