thoughts on plan for public art going forward.
sitrep
edit- siris and art museum databases are stovepiped, nobody talks. we can be the consolidator, since we are "NPOV".
- our lists thusfar, scrubbed from siris, are a slice of database normally sorted by piece name, in table format.
- scraping the databases is difficult, since most lack an export function.
- most "public art" list articles are in table format. we have some old essay format with example subsection articles, that could be expanded into tables with stand alone art articles.
- there are some web 1.0 websites with thumbnails. our lists can include gps making more useful for phone functionality.
- the problem with wiki art lists is that the size balloons by the "citation" template, making the upload time too long.
- process i've followed = export data into spreadsheet, add wikicode in spreadsheet, upload into wikilist article.
- i've put a comprehensive (siris) list in user space, and abreviated list (with images) in article, with note on talk page.
- once list article is created, then search for images, either by photo contest, or search flickr, with right license.
- break lists into neighborhoods if they get too big.
