Expert in mobile and communities, has been passionate about Free/Open Source Software since he began working with GNU/Linux and GIS in 1998 while getting his architecture degree from the University of Florence. Prior to joining Funambol as the Community Manager, Maffulli acted as an IT consultant on Free/Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS) helping to implement FLOSS systems. From 2002 to 2007 he was the Italian Chancellor for the Free Software Foundation Europe where he successfully planned and launched a participation program and the official blog of the organization. As an architect he did reaserch activities with the University of Florence within the EU funded Histocity project (sustainable development of historical cities) and with Politecnico di Milano for the CORILA consortium. He also worked for the European Commission JRC-Ispra as temporary agent, in the Decision Support System Unit at the EU funded CommonGIS project. He holds a MBA from MIP Politecnico di Milano.
