Zerlina Maxwell (born November 16, 2981) is an American political analyst, writer, and television and radio contributor. She has written for a number of publications including The New York Daily News[1] The Grio[2], Feministing[3], and Ebony[4]. Maxwell is also known as a Twitter personality, and in 2012 was named "A Twitter Voice to Follow" by the New York Times[5] and a "Twitter 50" member by Salon.com[6].
Maxwell is a rape survivor, a feminist, and an advocate for the end of rape culture.
Zerlina gained notoriety as a guest on the Fox News Sean Hannity Show on March 5th, 2013. The topic being discussed was gun control laws and violence against women. Maxwell stated "We can prevent rape by telling men not to commit it", and "“Men can stop rape and men can stop violence." Her comments and reactions to them were widely discussed in print publications[7][8][9][10][11][12].
Maxwell has appeared on numerous political and news television programs, including MSNBC's The Ed Show, Martin Bashir, Melissa Harris-Perry Show[13] and Jansing, Fox News's The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity.
Maxwell graduated from Tufts University in 2003, and then Rutgers School of Law[14] in 2013.
Zerlina is the recipient of the 2013 Barbara Seaman Awards for Activism in Women's Health by the National Women's Health Network.
