James ogwang was born on 9th of November 1998 in Agu village, Ngora district. His parents are Olego Max, father and Atim Joyce, mother who are peasants farmers. He went to Agu primary school for his primary education from 2004 to 2010 and then joined to Kakira High School in 2011 to 2014 for UCE certificate, joined Lugazi Homestone Boarding School for UACE certificate in 2016. He then enrolled to Makerere University in 2017 for a bachelor's degree in Animal production technology and management where he graduated in 2021
